So, you have bought a hot tub, done all the hard work and it is ready to become your oasis of relaxation, your home spa. But simply buying and installing a hot tub doesn’t always create the ambience you were expecting. That is why there are a numerous hot tub accessories for you to turn your hot tub into your ideal space to unwind, rejuvenate and get rid of all the stresses of modern life. Including a mixture of both functional and luxury accessories, we have put together some of the must-have hot tub accessories, so you don’t have to do anymore hard work and can start your journey to relaxation today.

Lighting

Specific lighting can be key to the right ambience. Whether that is natural lighting, from daylight to moonlight, fairy lights, or even installing low lighting around your hot tub, finding the right lighting is key to creating the right atmosphere.

Most hot tubs come with interior lighting, but you can buy extra underwater LED lights to put inside your hot tub if you prefer. These come in multi-colour if you fancy adding a bit of fun to your home spa.

Exterior lighting is important to set the mood. You can buy LED strip lights to place around or on your hot tub or hanging lights and fairy lights for overhead if your hot tub is covered. It is also a good idea to buy solar lighting to light any pathways to and from your hot tub. You can purchase solar garden lights for this purpose.

We would also recommend candles, although battery powered ones are safer than open flames. If you do use candles, then please keep them away from all flammable objects and remember to not leave them unattended when you have finished in the hot tub.

If your hot tub is not on a patio with overhead roofing, or if it is on decking without an overhang, then it is worth investing in a gazebo. This will help with privacy and allow you to relax without worrying if you are being overlooked. It also helps enormously in the British weather. Creating your own enclosed hot tub space means you have the perfect area to pamper yourself and create your own oasis of tranquillity. You can also add extras such as seating, lighting, or a bar.

Aromatherapy

One of the most important aspects of a home spa is the aroma. Your sense of smell has a significant impact on your mood and emotion so by harnessing the power of aromatherapy, you can truly focus on calming your mind for that perfect home spa experience.

You can use diffusers, oil burners, incense sticks or even just a nice smelling candle, however, with the rise in popularity of hot tubs, you can now purchase specific hot tub essential oils. These are designed to be added directly to your hot tub and come in liquid, crystal, cartridge, and bead form and come in a wide variety of scents, so you are sure to find a smell that you love.

DO NOT put ordinary essential oils into your hot tub, this can cause irreparable damage to the hot tub itself and may cause skin reactions.

Music

If you want to relax to the sound of music, then consider portable Bluetooth speakers. You can buy these separately or have them built into the hot tub surround. You can even get floating ones! Whatever you decide, please make sure the speakers are waterproof!

Headrest

There is nothing worse than sinking into that wonderful hot water and being surrounding by bubbles…only to feel uncomfortable and end up with sore neck. There are several options, you can buy a hot tub pillow, inflatable or soft. Make sure you get mildew and mold free versions, as this will help keep them clean. Or you can purchase a head rest for neck and head support. Some head rests and pillows can fit over the side of your hot tub, but most will have suction cups to help you attach and arrange into your perfect position.

Drinks table/holder

There is nothing worse than finally easing into your hot tub after a long day, only to realise you need a drink. Drinks holders and tables are a useful accessory to have for your hot tub, especially if you don’t want to spoil the home spa ambience.

Hot tub drinks holders come in all shapes and sizes, from inflatable ones (yes really!) to plastic holders that can fit over the side of your hot tub. Our recommendation is a tray table that fits across the side, the benefits to this over cup holders, is that they can also hold books, glasses or even a plant if you wanted it to feel like you were at a real spa.

Of course, you could go all out and have a hot tub bar fitted, but that is less of an accessory and more a home renovation!
